Indigenous Rights Advocacy Coordinator (location negotiable)

Would you like to help advance the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people?

We need your innovative ideas, strategic skills, experience working in partnership with others and ability to manage a diverse range of stakeholder relationships.

You will have previous advocacy experience, an understanding of approaches to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and a good grasp of the Australian political context.

International vacancies

District Team Leader (Covalima, Timor-Leste)

  • 6 month full time contract


Oxfam Australia is Australia's leading agency working with communities around the world for solutions to poverty and social injustice. The program in Covalima provides direct support to communities focusing on community based health, food security and livelihood, and water and sanitation.
The District Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring high quality program implementation and monitoring, and day to day management of the Covalima operations. This position will line manage approximately 20 national staff and one international staff member, and it is planned that the District Team Leader would build the capacity of a national staff DTL counterpart in the future.


Key requirements:
• Minimum 3 years experience in support services (HR, Finance, Operations Management etc.) essential
• Experience of working in community development programs. Experience in health and/or livelihoods projects would be a distinct advantage.
• Ability in community participation and consultation methods preferred
• Experience working on institutional grants and understanding of donor compliance. Prior EC grant experience an advantage.
• Working knowledge of Tetum or Bahasa, and fluent written and spoken English essential
• Solid understanding of program cycle management
• Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct training programs with national staff, national NGOs and community groups.
• Experience in ensuring that gender and protection are integrated throughout program activities.
• Experience in leading multi disciplinary and multi cultural teams

Salary and benefits for this position include: Salary AUD$64,000 per annum plus 9% superannuation or pension contribution, one economy return flight, travel and health insurance, accommodation allowance and additional leave entitlements. .

Logistics & Security Coordinator (Dili, Timor-Leste)

Oxfam Australia is Australia's leading agency working with communities around the world for solutions to poverty and social injustice. We need your strong logistics & security skills to manage the logistics team in Dili, proactively provide security advice and recommendations to the Country Director and support the two district offices by ensuring that consistent logistics systems are applied.

The Logistics and Security Coordinator is responsible for mentoring and supporting the skill and knowledge of the Logistics Coordinator (national staff) to develop their capacity for the overall management of the Oxfam Australia’s logistics system in Timor Leste.


Key requirements:
• Bachelor degree in logistics or a related field (eg. finance, management, administration)
• Experience in mentoring or working as a counterpart with national staff
•Experience in staff management including recruitment, performance management and training/development.
• Previous experience in logistics in a development setting
• Experience in development and implementation of logistics systems
• Experience in managing security in a complex environment for an international organisation
• Knowledge of Indonesian or Tetum is an advantage.
